Zur Person:
Prof. Dr. Stefanie Sohn hat seit dem 1. September 2026 die Professur für Betriebswirtschaftslehre, insbesondere Marketing und Nachhaltigkeit, an der Universität Duisburg-Essen inne. Darüber hinaus gehört sie weiterhin der University of Southern Denmark an.
Vor ihrem Wechsel an die Universität Duisburg-Essen war Stefanie Sohn als Associate Professor und zuvor als Assistant Professor (Tenure Track an der University of Southern Denmark tätig. Ihre Promotion im Fach Marketing schloss sie an der Technischen Universität Braunschweig ab. Zuvor studierte sie Betriebswirtschaftslehre in Münster, Bordeaux und Göttingen. Ihre wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten wurden mehrfach ausgezeichnet, unter anderem mit dem Heinrich-Büssing-Preis, dem Wolfgang-Wirichs-Förderpreis Handel sowie Preisen auf internationalen Fachkonferenzen.
In ihrer Forschung untersucht Stefanie Sohn, wie Einstellungen, Entscheidungen und Verhaltensweisen von Konsumentinnen und Konsumenten entstehen. Ihre Schwerpunkte liegen auf nachhaltigem und digitalem Konsumentenverhalten sowie auf der Wirkung sensorischer Marketingreize, insbesondere der visuellen Gestaltung. Methodisch nutzt sie quantitative und qualitative Forschungsansätze, darunter Experimente, Befragungen sowie die Analyse von Sekundärdaten. Stefanie Sohn arbeitet in internationalen und interdisziplinären Forschungsteams. In ihren Drittmittelprojekten verbindet sie die Marketing- und Konsumentenverhaltensforschung insbesondere mit der Informatik und der Wirtschaftsinformatik. Als Antragstellerin hat sie Drittmittel in Höhe von insgesamt mehr als einer Million Euro von der TrygFonden-, Carlsberg- und Hans-Riegel-Stiftung eingeworben.
Ihre Forschung ist in führenden internationalen Fachzeitschriften erschienen, darunter Beiträge im Journal of Marketing, International Journal of Research in Marketing und Journal of Retailing. Sie ist Mitglied im Editorial Review Board anerkannter Fachzeitschriften und begutachtet regelmäßig Beiträge für weitere internationale Fachzeitschriften.
